"Dare to change and serve the Community"
Kuala Lumpur: During the formation for the
Kuala Lumpur Archdiocesan Chinese Language Commission (
ACLAC), Spiritual Advisor, Sr. Theresa Chew,
pic, shared on the Spirit of Jesus, to reflect on Jesus message, dare to change and to serve the community.

She succeeded in showing ways of making it not only easier but fun for participants to share a better understanding of the mission and objective of being a disciple of Christ through serving in communion with other communities in the church.
A group of 50 participants from the
ACLAC’s members, parish Chinese apostolate and ministry workers gathered in the
APC hall for this much awaited biennial formation. As assigned to be the commission coordinator by His Grace Archbishop Murphy Pakiam, much was expected and Sr Theresa Chew did not disappoint.
The formation was to serve two purposes. Firstly, to prepare participants for challenging times ahead and secondly, to craft hearts to Jesus through joyful presentations, thought provoking workshop discussion and thanks giving praise and worship sessions. Simon Phun, 3rd term past chairperson of the apostolate, shared the Gospel teaching of Christ, the spirituality and service of the leaders and looking at the role and position of ACLAC in the local church in the context of evangelization and community building. He encouraged the participants to remain in fidelity till the end.

The first session began with the hymn, Here I Am Lord. This was followed by Morning Prayer. We were also asked to fill in questionnaire for suggestions to the commission. Sr Theresa Chew explained that it was extremely important to look at yourself, and reflect on personal relationship with Jesus and equip with knowledge of Church’s teaching.
Two workshops then followed. Participants were put in groups. A silent sketch titled Jesus and Me was presented by youths, and the groups were asked to reflect their personal experience with Jesus. This workshops proved to be heartening as it made us discovered the moments in our life that Jesus has been with us all the time.

Michael Yap of Good Shepherd Church though not fluent with Mandarin, gave an inspiring testimony to witness the love of Jesus through an Indian teacher who saved him & his brother from the verge of falling into becoming gangster, has transformed his life. Even a 6 yr old boy was seen laughing and rolling on the floor because he was so amused by the lively & simple down to earth witnessing shared by Michael.
In the last session, Sr Theresa talked of
PMPC IIISix Strategies. She encouraged the apostolate to work with parish, district, archdiocesan leaders and priests to realize the strategies listed in the final document. That is the direction of local church for all to follow. She stressed that ACLAC must response positively to the challenges in the implementation of the six core strategies of the Peninsular Church adopted in the PMPC III, especially the areas mentioned by His Grace Archbishop Datuk Murphy Pakiam.
The day’s session ended with a wonderful prayer session led by Raymond Poh and “Hearts String” Gospel singing team, besides praying for universal and local Church, the hierarchy, we too prayed for the Myanmar Nargis cyclone and China Sichuan earthquake disaster victims, survivors and relief helpers too.
